Hello, my name is Eliezer Jones and this is where I write and share my thoughts. I am lover of learning and specifically learning on the edges to find those individuals and ideas that are challenging the status quo, most often in the area of education which is near and dear to my heart.
A little about me in bio form:
I am the Head of School of Akiba-Schechter, which is a leading and innovative Jewish Day School in Hyde Park, IL. Prior to Akiba, I was the General Studies Principal of Valley Torah High School (VTHS) in Los Angeles, CA , and prior to VTHS, I was the Director of Educational Innovation for the Institute for University-School Partnership at Yeshiva University. In this role I worked directly with K-12 schools in the areas of innovative school change, 21st century teaching and learning, educational technology and online/blended learning. I developed and facilitated the YU School Partnership’s online certificate in educational technology integration and developed and facilitated the online certificate in online/blended learning instruction and design working with amazing educators from around the world. I have also had the pleasure of acting as a Professor at the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration where I taught Educational Technology Integration for their Masters and Doctoral students.
Before the YU School Partnership, I was the Director of Student Life at Robert M. Beren Academy in Houston, Texas where I spent two years developing and enhancing student programming, taught Judaic and general studies and was a member of the guidance team. I was the Associate Regional Director for West Coast NCSY where I worked for over ten years. I proudly hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles and have worked with children, adolescents and families in such clinical settings as Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic in Downtown LA.
